Christmas: Light Emerging From Darkness

Bidri craft is a metal handicraft from Bidar, Karnataka, known for its striking silver or gold inlay work on a blackened alloy of zinc and copper. Originating in the 14th century under the Bahmani Sultans, this art form blends Persian influences with local craftsmanship and takes its name from the city itself. Its signature black finish is achieved through a unique oxidisation process using a special acidic soil found only within the Bidar Fort.Through this installation, Ambience Malls’ aim to honour Indian craftsmanship by transforming a timeless technique into a contemporary festive expression. The contrast of black metal and silver inlay not only reflects the opulence of Bidri but also beautifully captures the essence of Christmas: light emerging from darkness.
